Buying from a business? Do these checks.

1. Request CAC Certificate

The Corporate Affairs Commission registration shows a company is legally registered.

2. Check Business Name

Bank account name must match business name exactly.

3. Visit Their Physical Location

If they have a shop or office, visit in person.

4. Verify TIN

Tax Identification Number — real businesses have one.

5. Check Their Online Presence

  • Website
  • Google Business Profile
  • Social media with real activity
  • Reviews across platforms

6. Request References

Ask for 2-3 past customers you can call.
