How to Verify a Seller Before You Buy in Nigeria
Five simple checks that save you from 90% of scams.
1. Check Their Profile Age
Sellers with older profiles and more listings are statistically more trustworthy.
2. Look for the Verified Badge
Sellers with the green ✔ tick have confirmed their identity with SellersDotNG.
3. Read Their Reviews
Look for reviews from at least 3 buyers over a period of weeks. Recent-only reviews are suspect.
4. Ask for Video Call Before Meeting
A quick 30-second video call confirms:
- The item actually exists
- The seller is who they say they are
- You see the item's real condition
5. Check Their Chat History
Use SellersDotNG in-app chat. It logs everything. If the seller insists on moving to WhatsApp only, that's a red flag.
Bonus: Google Their Username
Search their username on Google. If it appears on scam warning sites or forums, walk away.
When to Walk Away
- They can't do a video call
- They won't meet at a public place
- They demand advance payment
- They have zero reviews
- Their story keeps changing
